Patients are given up to 15 minutes past their appointment time to show for their appointment. If a patient shows up after 15 minutes but within the appointment time, it will be at Dr. Fawcett’s discretion and availability if patient can still be seen that day.
Patients have 24 hours to cancel their appointment without being charged.
Cancelations within 24 hours will be considered a "No Show" and will be charged the full amount of their scheduled appointment.
If there is an emergency or illness that prevents a patient from attending an appointment, the late cancellation fee will be waived only for the first occurrence.
After 3 "No shows" a patient will be dismissed from the clinic and given a list of referrals.
For patients under the age of 18 all caregivers are asked to be at the initial appointment.
For follow up visits for children under the age of 16 at least one caregiver must be present and available for the entirety of the visit.
For follow up visits for adolescents over the age of 16 a parent must be available by phone for contact during the entirety visit.
No psychiatric medications will be started or changed without consent of a parent or guardian.
For controlled medications, all legal guardians must provide consent prior to initiation.
If a parent cannot be reached during the appointment time, he or she will likely be asked to make another follow up appointment.
If parents are in the process of separating or are already divorced, Dr. Fawcett asks that both be present and or available for all appointments. In the case of an acrimonious divorce, Dr. Fawcett may refuse to see patients without both parents present. Dr. Fawcett will dismiss patients whose parents are unable to speak civilly to one another or to keep the patient’s wellbeing as a priority and focus of sessions.
Dr. Fawcett does not provide custody evaluations or make custody recommendations. Such evaluations need to be conducted by a forensic psychiatrist.
If you wish to have Dr. Fawcett complete a form or write a letter, please let her know as soon as possible and arrange for a visit to complete the request. All letters and forms will be completed during the scheduled appointment time and the patient or family will have a chance to review the letters or forms during that time. For letters, please make sure you have the addressee’s full name, title, address, and email address.
Telehealth visits will be offered on a case by case basis.
Telehealth visits are performed through an encrypted, HIPPA-compliant telemedicine platform.
Patients must be within the State of North Carolina at the time of the visit. If you present to the virtual visit and are outside the state of North Carolina the appointment will be terminated and you will be charged the No Show fee.
To the best of your ability, please make sure you have a strong internet or cell signal and that you can speak comfortably and privately for the entire length of the appointment time. The website allows you to test your audio and visual functioning ahead of the visit.
We ask that virtual appointments may be completed in a private and confidential space. If you attend an appointment in a space that is not confidential and private (school bathroom, bus, carpool, shopping) the appointment will be terminated, and you will be charged the No Show fee.

Psychotherapy notes are kept separate from the medical and billing notes, and patients do not have a right to access these.
